More than 1,000 couples organized their weddings last summer on the Greek island of Santorini, which is already on the list of the world’s most romantic destinations.
Just last year, more than 1,000 weddings were announced in different parts of Santorini, but there were also fake weddings for couples who were already married but wanted to have another ceremony there.
The largest number of foreigners getting married on Santorini come from England, more than 60% of them, followed by America, Australia and New Zealand.
As for the false ceremonies, they are led by the Chinese and the Japanese because their countries do not recognize marriage abroad.
